Board Bash

Play Tic-Tac-Toe online – free, with friends or against a bot

Tic-Tac-Toe is nine squares and about thirty seconds, which is the point: it is the game you play while you wait for the next one. Board Bash gives it a proper board, a turn timer and a rematch button, and it works against a friend on another device, on the same phone, or against the computer.

How to play Tic-Tac-Toe

The board is a 3×3 grid, empty at the start. One player takes the crosses, the other the noughts.

Players alternate, marking one empty square per turn. A square already taken cannot be played.

Three of your marks in a line — across, down or diagonally — wins the game.

If all nine squares fill with no line of three, the game is a draw.

There is no other ending: nobody can pass, and every game is over in nine moves at most.

Frequently asked questions

Can Tic-Tac-Toe be won every time?

No. It is a solved game: two players who both know what they are doing draw every single time. The interest is in catching someone who does not.

Can two of us play on one phone?

Yes. Choose "Same device" when you create the game and hand the phone over between turns.

Does a win count towards my rating?

Games against another player online are rated and appear in your match history. Games played on this device — against the computer, or passing the phone — are not.
