Play PushOff online – free, with friends or against a bot
PushOff is a four-in-a-row game on a board with no empty squares. Every move shoves a whole row or column along by one and knocks a disk off the far edge, so the shape you built last turn is never quite the shape you find on your next one. It plays quickly and punishes autopilot.
How to play PushOff
The board is 4×4 and always completely full. It starts with sixteen neutral disks and neither player holds a hand, so you can never run out of your colour.
On your turn you push one disk of your own colour in at the edge of a row or column. That whole line slides along by one square, and the disk at the far end is pushed off the board.
A push is only legal if the disk it knocks off is neutral or one of your own. You may never push an opponent's disk off.
Four of your disks in a row, column or diagonal wins.
A push that completes a line of four for your opponent loses on the spot — even if the same slide completes a line of your own as well.
There are no draws. A position neither player can improve simply carries on; online, only the turn timer ends it.
Frequently asked questions
Is PushOff the same as Quixo?
It is the 4×4 cut of it, sometimes called Push 4. The board is smaller than Quixo's 5×5, so games are shorter and every push matters more.
Why did I lose after making four in a row?
Your push completed your opponent's line of four at the same time. The opponent's line is checked first, so that slide is a loss even when it makes a line for you.
Can I play PushOff against the computer?
Yes. Choose "Computer" and one of four levels; Grandmaster searches several moves ahead and takes the win whenever one is on the board.
